Explosions in the Sky
Design, development & creative direction for Scenes from the Wilderness, a visual companion to The Wilderness, a new album by Explosions in the Sky.
The band gave us a folder full of striking and mysterious photos from their worldwide excursions — a cryptic travelogue. We chose one to go with each track, and worked with the animator Eric Overton to slowly alter and degrade it, turning it into a sort of moving painting.
We thought the site should have a similar vibe. The fuzzy images flicker through a few frames of motion, and only come into focus when hovered.
