Earthquake Bird
We designed bilingual opening titles for this Netflix mystery starring Alicia Vikander, an adaptation of a novel by Susanna Jones. It marks our third collaboration with director Wash Westmoreland, after Still Alice and The Last of Robin Hood, both of which were co-directed by the late Richard Glatzer.
For the English credits, we used Emigre’s Citizen, the font Louise Fili used on the book’s dust jacket in 2001. A relatively new typeface at the time, it now reads as a period-specific choice, helping to ground the movie in the late 80s, when it is set.
